$67k - $82k per year

*This is an exempt position, all hours worked will be paid under the yearly wage

Travel 3/4 days per month to PowderPure facility in The Dallas, OR*

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A legal right to work in the United States
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check and a background check in accordance with HWP standards
  • Bachelor’s Degree in occupational safety or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in plan EHS program
  • Experience with EHS compliance auditing or inspections
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced PowerPoint and Excel a plus

JOB SUMMARY

The EHS Specialist coordinates activities and verifies proper execution of required EHS programs at the site. This role supports implementation of EHS programs, supports execution of required actions, conducts audits and evaluations to confirm regulatory and corporate compliance, and engages with all personnel to cultivate a strong safety culture.

The EHS specialist will be based on site in the Clackamas facility but also support the PowderPure facility (The Dalles for 20% of its time).

  • Develop strategies for industrial hygiene exposure assessment and implement programs to control occupational exposures including noise, respirable dust, enzyme exposure, and ergonomics.
  • Manage contractor prequalification, on-boarding, training, and inspection program to ensure contractor compliance to IFF EHS requirements. Actively participate in capital project design reviews to ensure proper EHS considerations during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and on-going refresher training compliant with EHS requirements for all plant personnel.
  • Partner with site safety committee to identify areas of opportunity/concern, bring forward opportunities to site leadership, and gain participation in proactive EHS programs.
  • Confirm site follows all environmental regulatory requirements and complies with permits including but not limited to air emissions, waste management, spill prevention & control, groundwater protection, and stormwater management.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities within the EHS space to increase employee engagement, improve safety controls, or streamline inefficient or ineffective safety programs
  • Must be able to successfully pass all job-related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment including but not limited to: inspections and GMP requirements to perform essential functions of the job. Must re-qualify every year on all job-related tests and certifications as job or qualifications require.
